Basic lapidary instruction is currently open to all CCGMA members during open lapidary shop hours.  New participants will obtain a fundamental understanding of the materials, safety and machine operations that are used in some of the lapidary arts.  The focus of this instruction is to teach basic cutting, shaping and polishing skills using the machines on hand, as well as shop safety and etiquette

The fee is covered in the regular hourly shop cost ($10 per 3 hour session).

Participants should expect instruction to be broken down over a minimum of 3 separate days (safety & use of slab saws, use of oil based trim saws, 8 inch wheel cab machines & buffers, and use of small water saw, flat lap, and 6 inch wheel cambers). This instruction is mandatory prior to working independently in the shop.

For those interested in Basic Lapidary, come to the Shop and meet with the Shop Steward to set up a convenient time or send an email through the contact page of this website.
